Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Arc of Oconee County and Our Place to improve public understanding of the intellectually and developmentally disabled. We strive to provide I/DD citizens with opportunities that enhance and strengthen independence. The Arc Of Oconee County (Our Place) is in compliance with the mission of the Arc Of the United States. The Arc of Oconee County is a member of the Arc of the United States as well as the Arc of South Carolina

The Arc conducts it’s business with integrity, accountability, and open, honest and timely communication. The Arc (Our Place) is committed to excellence and quality in all that it does.

Our Place: One of the programs under the umbrella of the Arc Of Oconee County is dedicated to serving adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. Our participants enjoy various activities 2 days a week. Some of the activities include: bowling, arts and crafts, small group games, nutrition study, exercise and healthy living, community events, service projects, independent living skills, line dance lessons, Monthly birthday celebrations, visits from the bookmobile, and Good News Club. We strive to provide our clients with opportunities and skills that enhance and strengthen independence.

We guide and advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing programs and services beneficial to those individuals with developmental disabilities.

What We Do:

  • Lesiure and recreational programs

  • Family Support

  • Individual Advocacy

  • Informational Services

  • Camp scholarships

  • Snack programs at local schools

  • Support for Special Friends Day Camp held annually every July

  • Monthly Birthday Celebrations at Tribble Center.

  • Raised bed garden projects at homes for individuals with I/DD

  • Trikes for health provides boys and girls with I/DD with safe 3 wheeled riding equipment sized accurately.

  • Good News Club

    -Future community service projects include but are not limited to

  • working with Hamilton career center to expand garden space that would provide locally grown produce for the Considerate Cafe

  • Providing informational classes for care providers

  • Providing respite care for individuals with children who have I/DD

    The program at Our Place includes the following:
